One Crew for Every Chimney From the Bay to the Turnpike
Brick colonial off Cottrell Road or a townhouse with a prefab fireplace in a siding chase — we sweep it, fix what winter broke, and level with you before anyone talks money.
Old Bridge splits about even between brick chimneys and framed chases hiding factory pipe. We carry the tools — and the parts — for both, on every truck.
Flue Sweeping & Soot Removal
A season of fires leaves a flue coated and lazy. We brush clay tile and factory pipe alike, and the mess rides out inside a sealed vacuum.
Shifted top courses, faces popping off, a stack the inspector circled in red — we take it down to solid brick and put it back the way it should have aged.
Jersey freeze-thaw hollows mortar joints a little more each March. We cut them back to sound material and refill with a blend that vanishes into the wall.
That flat pan on top of a townhouse chase rusts from the first winter on. We bend replacements in stainless with a proper pitch, and cap masonry flues to match.
Same-week visits, 7 to 7A blocked flue with cold weather coming, wildlife noise overhead, a contract deadline — mention it at (848) 218-9796 and the board gets shuffled.

The Questions Old Bridge Homeowners Actually Ask
What's an inspection going to run me?
Nothing is owed for the once-over. A tech covers firebox, damper, flue, crown, cap or chase cover, and the masonry outside, then tells you where things stand before leaving the driveway. Need it typed with photos for a closing, a claim or the records drawer? That's the $149 report, made up only when you ask.
Our townhouse "chimney" is siding with a metal pipe inside. Is that yours too?
Very much ours — half the developments off Route 9 vent factory fireplaces through framed chases exactly like that. The usual failures are the flat metal cover on top rusting through and dripping into the framing, and cracked refractory panels in the firebox. We sweep the pipe, bend new stainless covers with proper pitch, and swap the panels.
How often should we have the flue cleaned?
Once a year if the fireplace sees regular use — creosote collects in factory pipe just as happily as in clay tile. Gas hearths and furnace flues get a yearly look for a different reason: their problems are rust and blockage, and both build without a whiff of warning.
The ceiling stains but the roofer says the shingles are fine. Now what?
Then the roofer likely did his job and the chimney didn't. Split crowns, tired flashing, rusted chase covers and thirsty brick all move water down alongside the flue until it blooms on the drywall — and near Laurence Harbor the bay air keeps everything wetter, longer. We track the entry point and fix that one thing properly.
How do I know the mortar joints are done for?
Scratch one with a car key. Solid mortar shrugs it off; failed mortar carves out like brown sugar. Crumbs collecting at the base of the stack or gaps you can see daylight through settle the question. Caught early, repointing is a one-day job that buys decades.
Are you insured?
Fully, with the certificate available before we ever set a ladder — just say the word when booking. Techs are background checked, and the house gets covered floors and sealed openings before any brush moves.
What does a cleaning visit look like inside my house?
About an hour, most of it invisible: protection down, opening sealed, HEPA vacuum humming while the brushes do their work upstairs. The soot leaves in the machine. Your only souvenir is a fireplace that drafts like it's new.
We've got a closing coming — can you move fast?
Give the date to whoever answers (848) 218-9796 and the schedule bends around it. The once-over typically lands within two days and the $149 written report follows inside one business day. Shop hours are Monday through Friday, seven to seven — weekends the phones sleep, so leave a message and Monday starts with you.
